The roastery
About Moraga Creek Coffee
What is Moraga Creek Coffee?
Moraga Creek Coffee is a small-batch, all-organic coffee micro roastery in Moraga, California, founded in 2025. We roast organically grown coffee in limited batches in the East Bay hills and sell it as whole bean. We are launching to the public soon.
Where is Moraga Creek Coffee located?
Moraga, California, in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area. All of our coffee is roasted in Moraga. We sell online and ship from our roastery rather than operating a storefront.
What makes Moraga Creek Coffee different?
Two things we hold to without exception. Every coffee we roast is organically grown, with no non-organic tier in the lineup to trade down to. And we roast in small batches close to the ship date, so each lot gets its own roast profile and the coffee is not warehoused for months before it reaches you.
Can I visit the roastery?
We are a small micro roastery in Moraga, California rather than a cafe with regular hours, so there is nothing to visit yet. Message us on Instagram if you are local to the East Bay and want to ask about picking up coffee.
The coffee
Roasts, roast levels and freshness
What roasts does Moraga Creek Coffee sell?
Three roasts: a medium everyday house roast with notes of dark chocolate, toasted almond and citrus peel; a bold single origin from Ethiopia with notes of blueberry, jasmine and cocoa; and a light single origin from Guatemala with notes of green apple, honey and milk chocolate. See the full lineup.
How much does Moraga Creek Coffee cost?
Our 12 oz whole bean bags are $24 for the medium everyday roast, $26 for the bold Ethiopian single origin and $22 for the light Guatemalan single origin. Organic green coffee costs more to grow, which is reflected in those prices. Final pricing and formats will be confirmed when we launch.
What is a small batch coffee roaster?
A small batch coffee roaster roasts coffee in small, controlled quantities instead of one continuous high-volume run. Smaller batches let the roastmaster track each roast by sight, sound and smell, adjust it as it develops, and roast close to the ship date so the coffee arrives fresh rather than sitting in a warehouse. More on small batch roasting.
Do you roast to order?
Yes. We roast in limited batches close to the ship date, so our coffee is not held in a warehouse before it reaches you. We ship whole bean, so it keeps its character longer than pre-ground.
Do you sell whole bean or ground coffee?
Whole bean, because grinding exposes far more surface area to oxygen and coffee loses its character faster once ground. If you need a specific grind for filter, espresso or French press, message us on Instagram and we will help you pick the right roast.
How should I store my coffee?
Air, light, heat and moisture are what age coffee fastest. Keep whole beans sealed in an opaque bag in a cool cupboard, and grind immediately before brewing. For a bag you will finish within a month, a cupboard beats the freezer, since repeatedly thawing and refreezing introduces moisture.
Sourcing
Organic and sourcing questions
Is Moraga Creek Coffee organic?
Yes. Every coffee we roast is organically grown, meaning grown without synthetic pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. It is not a premium tier or a single token offering: organic sourcing is the baseline for our entire lineup. Read our organic standard.
What does organic coffee mean?
Coffee grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, with fertility coming from compost, mulch and soil biology instead of chemicals. In most markets the claim is verified by an accredited certification program that traces the coffee from the farm through the mill and exporter to the roaster.
Is organic coffee the same as fair trade coffee?
No. Organic certification governs how coffee is grown: which inputs a farm may use and how that is verified. Fair trade certification governs how coffee is traded: pricing floors, cooperative structure and premiums to producers. A coffee can hold either, both, or neither.

We are launching soon and our roasts are not yet on sale. Join the launch list on our website and we will email you the moment the first batches are ready to order. The first small batches will be limited.
Can I buy Moraga Creek Coffee right now?
Not yet. Coffee is pre-launch, so there is nothing to purchase today. Our merchandise shop is live if you want gear in the meantime. Join the launch list to be notified when coffee goes on sale.
Do you ship coffee?
Yes, we ship from our roastery in Moraga, California. Shipping regions, rates and delivery estimates will be published with the launch. Join the launch list and we will send the details before coffee goes on sale.
Do you offer a coffee subscription?
A recurring subscription is planned, not yet live. Subscriptions suit small batch coffee well because the whole point is receiving coffee close to its roast date. Message us on Instagram if you want to be told first when subscriptions open.
Do you sell wholesale to cafes or offices?
We are open to wholesale conversations with cafes, offices and restaurants in the East Bay and beyond. Message us on Instagram at @moragacreekcoffee with what you are looking for and we will talk through volumes, pricing and roast options.
Where can I buy Moraga Creek Coffee gear?
Our merchandise shop is live at moragacreekcoffee.com/gear. It carries branded gear, and coffee itself is still pre-launch.
